El Carmen Project is ubicated on the north extreme of Coahuila, Mexico and was created by CEMEX with the comitment of restore biodiversity and the most important challenge, bring the desert bighorn sheep to the wild. Ten years ago the dream comes true with the first liberation of thirty individuals. In the image appears a helicopter transporting two individuals to the release point.

In Mexico, as in the majority of the countries allover the world, many species are endangered due illegal trade. In the image a spider monkey (Allouatta pigra) is waiting to be sell in some place of Peninsla Yucatan. Authorities needs to solve the problem by incentivating rural comunities to develop ecoturism projects that will protect biodiversity and generate incomes.

The Burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia) is quite common in the "Altiplano" a geographical area where the mexican states of Coahuila, Nuevo Léon, Zacatecas and San Luis Potosi have their limits. Here inhabits the enedemic Praire dog (Cynomis mexicanus) enlisted as endangered species by the IUCN due the implementation of vast agricultural potato crops. This bird uses abandoned praire dog burrows for nesting so both species are close realted and probably the burrowing owl population is in risk of disappearing too.

Bisons can smell rain and roam to this places searching for renewed grasslands, pronghorns follow them to find this valuated areas and looking for protection of their predators, wolves. So bisons are a key species of the greatplains ecosistem. In the image a bull roams free in the rain.

During next winter migratory birds will congregate in flocks of hundred and thousands along the Mexican gulf coast. Gulls and terns arrives to Tamaulipas during this season and uses tides for foraging and rest, but due the high numbers conflicts will appear between diferent species as apperas in the image between a Royal tern (Sterna maxima) and the American oystercatcher (Haematopus palliatus).

Maasai people used to live in nomad settlements “Manyatas” but since some decades ago many groups lives in permanent villages, in the image appears some maasai men in a room that serves as a bar drinking Pombe, a typical fermented beverage.
